Week Highlights: October 16th - 20th

October 16th - Book fair continues. No library class because of the book fair.

October 17th - Last day for the book fair.

October 19th - Half Day. Students go home at 11:45.

October 20th - No school for students.

We have wrapped up our Patterns unit in math! We will be starting our next unit, Numbers to 1000, this week. Students will be learning to model numbers up to 1000 using a variety of methods, estimate quantities of items up to 1000, and skip count by 3s, 4s, 5s, 10s, 25s, and 100s.

*Don't forget to bring your home reading folders so we can add up our minutes! Currently we are at 3516 minutes! Way to go! We still have 19107 minutes to go to make it around India.

Week Highlights: October 2nd - 6th 

This week we are starting our spelling program! This year the students will be using a program called Words Their Way. It is a great program that focuses more on understanding word patterns and less on memorization. Each child will get a list that is specific to their spelling needs and level making it much more effective.

Look for a list of words (or pictures) and a letter with more information coming home with your child on Monday night. There is no assigned homework for these words but you can have your child cut them and sort them to show you what they are working on at school. Every second Friday there will be a test that will show me whether they are ready to move on to a new pattern or they need more practice with their current one.

Week Highlights: September 25th - 29th

September 26th - Hot Lunch.

September 29th - Orange Shirt Day. Wear an orange shirt in support/remembrance of survivors of residential schools.

*Don't forget to bring your library books back on Monday for our book exchange as well as your home reading folders so we can tally up our minutes from our first week!

Week Highlights: September 18th to 22nd.

September 21st - Spirit Assembly at 10:20 am. 

September 22nd - Terry Fox Walk. We will be leaving at 9:00 am to walk over to Nicholas Sheran Park where we will walk around the lake. If you would like to join us, let me know by sending me a message via Class Dojo or in your child's agenda. The more, the merrier!

* We will also be starting our class home reading program this week. Look for the duotangs coming home on Monday!
